Our Tech Open Air 2023 Impressions

Tech Open Air marked the last of the tech conferences in Berlin before the tech ecosystem took off to their well-deserved summer break. The event took place between 5-7 July. Our UX/UI expert, Merve Tekinay Uçkun, attended the event and reported on-site on behalf of Contextual Solutions.

This year’s TOA significantly focused on AI, web3, fundraising in this economic climate, and value-driven products. The following questions were debated during the event by various experts:

  • Is Europe then ahead of everyone when it comes to crypto regulation?

  • Why does AI require provenance guarantees, and how is the world moving towards a post-UI default setting?

  • How secure are online identities?

  • How do we combine the UX of Web 2 with the possibilities of Web 3?

  • Will our next Happy Meal be based on biotech?

  • What can we say about the cultural and commercial shift from consumers spending more on experiences rather than stuff?

During his speech, Tao Tao of Get Your Guide pointed out that we are still at the start of the machine transformation since the key human ingredient, emotions, is missing from the AI equation, which will always give humans an unfair advantage. The panel also highlighted that the next generations might be unable to have intense emotional experiences due to their dependence on machines.

Audrey Tsang and Carrie Walter’s panel highlighted the insufficiency of FemTech and female health products. The Founders of Clue reminded the audience that all menstrual cycles are different and require personalization in services; however, such services do not yet exist in the market.

The event ended with an invite-only party at Kater Blau.

Thank you for the enlightening conversations, and until next time!
